Page 23 Meme

Via Ian, I saw this meme doing the rounds of various blogs. It tells you to do this:

Grab the nearest book. Open the book to page 23. Find the fifth sentence. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.

My nearest book was “Clanbook Nosferatu”, which, on page 23, says

That's part of where we got our sinister reputation.

  1. My nearest book was “The Fabric of Reality” - David Deutsch, which, on page 23, says

'You would have to discover that certain atomic configurations support emergant phenomena such as leadership and war, which are related to one another by high-level explanatory theories.'

This stuff is not for the faint-at-heart... :) Nice blog...

  2. Huh. Interesting quote. It sounds like total bullshit, but it's probably completly out of context. :) What's the book about?

    Glad you like the blog!

  3. I won't tell you the name of my nearest book, let's see if someone can guess it.

'Suddenly they were both leaping around him, shouting "Traitor!" and "Thought-criminal!", the little girl imitating her brother in every movement.'

Shouldn't be too hard, it's a classic. Excellent book.

By the way, thanks for putting together your articles and tutorials. Good stuff that is.

  4. Love it. I turned immediately to Tim Ewald's "Transactional COM+", and was delighted to discover, as the fifth complete sentence on page 23 - "This is certainly possible, but not elegant". Story of my life.

  5. CaptainNuss: I'm afraid I don't know the book! Feel like I should, though. And you're welcome. ;)

Pete: That's awesome. I'll tell Tim.
